​A Place Where Dream Begins——Shanghai Thomas Primary School Open Day.



一所面对未来的学校要具备哪些要素?我们理想中的教育又该是什么模样?我们需要培养什么样的人才?也许我们在上海托马斯实验学校能找到不一样的答案。


What kind of factors should a school have? What would an ideal education look like? What kind of talents do we need to cultivate to meet the needs of the times? Maybe we could get a different answer from Shanghai Thomas Primary School.


2019年12月29日,在崭新的校园里,上海托马斯实验学校小学部首次开放日活动进行得如火如荼。近500人的星空剧场座无虚席,家长们满怀激情,只为亲身感受国际化教育的魅力与风采。


On Sunday, Dec 29th, Shanghai Thomas Primary School opened its doors to the public for its first Open Day! All seats were occupied, parents were excited to experience the glamour of international education. 



一流教育从何而来


上海托马斯实验学校理事会理事长、安生教育科学研究院院长、安生教育集团董事长张梧华先生首先致欢迎辞,围绕“培养孩子四问”、“托马斯学校四明确”两个方面,提纲挈领地阐述了成功孩子的培养需要尽早规划和建构贯通中小学段整体教育生态的观点。特别强调学校对接英国剑桥大学、美国斯坦福大学、美国托马斯·杰斐逊科技高中、以色列学校等国际顶尖教育资源,注重对学生“双语·双能·双文化”的素质培养,希望孩子们在托马斯学校经历龙头(小学)——虎腰(初中)——凤尾(高中)12年制整体教育生态的培养之后,面对世界著名大学的招生要求,我们的学生将会因为开阔的全球视野和扎实的学术能力最终“赢”在最后!


Where does first-class 

education come from


Mr. Zhang Wuhua, Chairman of Shanghai Thomas School, Dean of the Ambright Education Research Institute, President of Ambright Education Group, delivered a welcome speech on behalf of the school. Focusing on training students to ask “four questions and four explorations”, he expounded his views on the importance of planning children’s education ahead and the concept of linking up primary and secondary education. Shanghai Thomas School enjoys a wealth of world-class education resources from Cambridge and Stanford University, STEM-iBET course from Thomas Jefferson High School for Science and Technology, and top primary educational resources from Israel, aiming at cultivating students with “bilingual skills (Chinese and English), dual abilities (learning ability and innovation ability), bicultural awareness (traditional Chinese culture and global culture)”. He hoped that after receiving a K-12 education in STS school, the students could become ‘winners’ when graduating because of their global perspective and excellent academic ability.



创办一流名校,

离不开教育的融合创新


学校党组织负责人刘友霞阐述了整体办学的实践框架。从学校缘起、发展定位、实践探索三个方面,介绍了学校“创办国际化科技化优质化一流名校”的发展目标,融合创新的育人模式,培养创新者的课程图谱,推进STEM-IBET特色课程的本土化实施,开展基于十大高级实验室的PBL项目化学习,以及着力打造 “一化三制”( 小班化教学、走班制管理、导师制培养、学分制评价)的育人特色等内容。


Creating first-class school 

needs integrated Innovation


Ms. Liu Youxia, Party Representative of Shanghai Thomas School, gave an impassioned speech. She depicted to the parents about school’s orientation of building an international, and a first-class scientific high school. She also introduced the educational mode of integrated Innovation, the curriculum blueprint of innovator cultivation, the localization of STEM-iBET course, the PBL learning based on ten advanced laboratories, and the school features including small class size, mobile learning system, tutorial system and credit system, etc.


 

“回归人的教育最美”:

打造一条最适合于学生的成长路径!


上海托马斯实验学校将会创设怎样的育人环境?小学部的课程与评价体系又是什么样?小学部顾巍校长对此做了解读。她表示托马斯学校精心设计了 “333活力成长课程(基础学力课程、生活实践课程、潜能开发课程)”以及“三个活力要素评价(学力、活力、潜力)”,旨在培养孩子拥有终身成长,收获幸福的能力,真正体现 “修德,立人,行世界”的校训宗旨。


Creating a suitable growth 

path for students


What about the educational environment in STS? What are the courses and appraisal system? Ms. Gu Wei, Head of Shanghai Thomas Primary School answered in details. She said, STS exquisitely designs the ‘333 vigorous growth course’ (elementary course, life practice course, potential development course) and ‘three appraisal elements’ (academic ability, vitality, potential) to cultivate students’ ability to attain lifelong growth and happiness, reflecting school’s motto of to be virtuous, scholarly and globally engaged.



负责小学部课程教学的钟靖茹老师就具体的课程实施、教师队伍及家长建议进行了详细说明。托马斯学校小学部将通过“班级小课堂、学校中课堂、社会大课堂”三种课堂形态引导学生开展主动性学习,尊重学生身心发展规律,重塑课程让天赋自由!广泛建立学科之间的有效联系,激发学生的学习兴趣,培养系统思维习惯,在丰富多彩的学校文化活动和专题教育中,落实“双语、双能、双文化”的发展目标。


Ms. Zhong Jingru, who is in charge of primary school curriculum, gave a comprehensive introduction of the primary school curriculum. Shanghai Thomas Primary School will use three sorts of classroom ‘small-scale class in the classroom, middle-scale class in the school, large-scale class in the society’ to guide students to learn on their own. STS respects the characteristics of students’ physical and psychological development and establishes effective links among the subjects to arouse the enthusiasm and interests of the students, and develop their systematic thinking habit. To ensure the implementation of school goal of cultivating students with “bilingual skills, dual abilities, bicultural awareness”, STS will also organise colorful and thematic campus activities. 



活动最后,家长们意犹未尽,纷纷就课程、教学、招生等问题与学校老师进行零距离交流。


After that, parents communicated with school leaders face to face about the curriculum, teaching and student admission.





家长们还兴致勃勃地参观了崭新靓丽的校园。匠心独运的建筑,大气雅致的环境,先进完备的设施,牢牢抓住了每个人的眼球。


A guided school tour was offered to all the parents and students. They were impressed by the elegant learning environment, marvelous buildings and outstanding facilities.

开放日活动虽短,却在家长和孩子心中埋下了一粒粒期望融入的种子,期待这粒种子能在这所生机勃勃的校园中生根发芽、茁壮成长、收获金色美好的未来!


Although the time for the open day was short, it has still sowed the seeds of willingness to join Shanghai Thomas School. We sincerely hope that our future students could grow sturdily and enjoy golden harvests in Shanghai Thomas School.
